2012-VII-14: Bruce, Ritxar, Idoia, Antua, Gotzon, Josu, Martin, Zutoia, Santi, Oier.

Mutruku lezara, eskaladan gora eta hondoko katazuluan aurrera egitteko asmuakin.

Basarrittarren legian, Santi eta Zutoia sartu dira goizian goiz. Bestiok 10.30ak aldera hasi gara barrurutz. Gotzonek egindako eskaladan gora egin dogu, aramuen modura (aramu-saria emoten zeban, bai, pasamanos-desbiadore-frakzionamentuan arteko soka moltzuak) eta neretako barrixa zan sektorian gora eginda, kañoian sartu gara. Haundixa, altua, ikusgarrixa; handik iñoiz pasau dan errekan pentsamentuakin inpresiñua egin desta. Sala haundira allegau (ia izenen bat asmatzen detsazuen, bestiok), eta han topau doguz Zutoia eta Santi, bueltarako bidian.

Antua, Bruce, Ritxar eta Gotzon han bertan dagon eskaladan gora juan dira, eta Martin eta Josu hondoko katazulua desobstruitzera. Today I had the good fortune to accompany Gotzon , Martin , Idoia , Josu, Ritxar , Antua and Oier , from Ades speliology group into Mutruku cave near Guernika.

We were exploring further into the cave system and had hoped to find a point where it joined the river which issues out to the resurgence at………

Oier was photographer, biologist and archaeologist , all in one, for the group. After the initial squeeze and two rappels we arrived at the large chamber where we met Santi and Zutoia who had descended earlier. Here we divided into three groups with Gotzon , Ritxar and I climbing towards the new galleries up a lovely chimney of sparkling flowstone : studded with small crystals which grew out in all directions. Gotzon swarmed up this followed by Ritxar , then me. We went on up two more pitches with Gotzon bolting the new route to a high gallery. For me this was fantastic : with beautiful formations, stalagtites and traces of bones of several animals. Claws and major bones and a complete rodent skeleton. The high point we reached had a 55 metre vertical flow above to a roof.

Oier and Idoia took photographs and biological , archaeological and palaeontological samples.

Antua , Martin and Josu dug on another 20 metres from the previous low point in a very constricted and muddy tube to the end of the passage. Sadly this terminated at a bedding plane which was blank with no sign of a further possible passage: I tried to reach the end , but could not pass any further along the constricted tube because of my shoulder width and the slippery upward slope. Wriggled out .

I enjoyed the scale and features immensely and had a ball! Thank you all Ades Espelio!
